TIPTON COUNTY, Ind. (21Alive)-- An on-duty Tipton County Sheriff's deputy was killed in a crash Saturday night.

The victim was identified as 31-year-old Jacob Calvin from Kempton.

According to investigators, Calvin was driving his 2011 Chevrolet Impala police car northbound on Tipton County Road 300 West near C.R. 300 South just before 10 p.m. Investigators also said his emergency lights and sirens were both activated and was driving at a high speed.

For an unknown reason, Calvin's car went off the road and rolled several times, throwing the deputy from the car. Indiana State Police and the Tipton County Sheriff's Department responded to the accident and Calvin was taken to Indiana University Tipton Hospital, where he then died.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
