URBANA, Ind. (21Alive) -- Three people went down in a plane Tuesday morning about a half mile west of SR 13.

The 4-seater 1963 Beechcraft crashed into a field in the 500 block of W. 500 N. just after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. According to the county sheriff, the propeller fell off the plane, forcing the pilot to bring the aircraft down.

Rex Ott, 62, was flying the plane and Timothy Swift, 59, and Tracy Swift, 52, were passengers. Tracy was flown to an area hospital by Samaritan with a possible broken leg and several lacerations. According to the Wabash County Sheriff, the other two only had minor injuries.

The plane was in route to Ohio from Iowa. Fort Wayne Air Traffic Control reported the crash to the Wabash County Sheriff's Department.

In a situation like this, the hardest thing for emergency crews responding, is finding the aircraft.

"It's going to be tough to find the aircraft first of all, and thank goodness, in this incident, it was easy to spot once we got to the location where it might have been," Sheriff Bob Land said.

Sheriff Land says they haven't found the propeller that fell off the plane yet. The FAA is investigating the crash alongside the county sheriff's department.

No structures were impacted by the crash..
