ALLEN COUNTY, IN (Indiana's NewsCenter) --- Republican State Senator Marlin Stutzman will be moving to Washington, after an impressive victory over Democrat Tom Hayhurst in the Third District Congressional race.

It was a dream outcome for the LaGrange County farmer turned politician.

He reaped a full harvest when the votes were tallied in the Third District showdown.

Stutzman garnered 63 percent of the vote, compared to Dr. Hayhurst's 33 percent.

Libertarian Scott Wise secured four percent.

Stutzman’s 30-point victory exceeded pre-election poll numbers.

Stutzman made his victory speech at Ceruti’s reception hall in north Fort Wayne, drawing a rousing ovation from GOP supporters.

With his wife and other family members by his side, Stutzman made it clear he wants to fight for changes to the direction President Obama and democrats have been taking the country.

Marlin Stutzman/® Congressman Elect: “ I think today conservatives are breaking records and we will not take it from Washington anymore and that this adversity is causing us to wake up and take our country back.”

Stutzman said he would only celebrate for a short time, before he concentrates on what his priorities will be in his new job.

Stutzman: “ I think we need to extend the Bush tax cuts and then I think we need to start focusing on how can we fix this health care bill that passed, because I've talked to hundreds of business owners and it's killing jobs right here in Indiana."

Stutzman says in his effort to win Mark Souder’s old seat he couldn't completely relax until Tuesday afternoon, when it became clear that there was a big voter turnout in republican stronghold precincts and counties across the district.
