FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - Families, friends and customers of Antonio Nino gathered Tuesday night for a candelight vigil to honor his memory.

Nino, 44, was shot to death Monday morning during an attempted robbery of the Smoke House Tobacco Outlet, 2217 S. Lafayette St.

Flowers, cards and candles adorned the sidewalk outside the tobacco shop while mourners held signs that paid homage to their friend.

"Why would you do something like that to a nice, wonderful guy?," Rudy Marquez, a friend and customer, says. "This guy helped everybody; the whole community."

Nino's death was ruled the third homicide of Allen County in 2014. The Fort Wayne Police Department continues its search for a suspect.
