GULF OF MEXICO (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Some individuals along the coast are hopeful that the beginning of the end is near for the months long problem out in the Gulf.

The 'Static Kill' is under way and set to choke the well once and for all.

This comes after BP officials finished what's called 'Injectivity Testing,' probing the busted well with an oil-like liquid to check for leaks.

Admiral Thad Allen says this is a positive step forward but should not be cause for premature celebration.

The 'Static Kill' is expected to take between 33-and 61-hours.
