UNITED STATES (www.incnow.tv) -- The Scripps National Spelling Bee isn't just about spelling anymore, now competitors will also have to know what the words mean.
Organizers of the annual competition announced Tuesday that competitors will take multiple-choice vocabulary tests as part of the preliminary rounds.
Organizers say spelling and vocabulary are just "two sides of the same coin" and that the new format helps kids reach the ultimate goal, a deeper and better understanding of the English language.
