Single Car Crash Claims Man's Life

DEFIANCE, Ohio (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The 4th of July turned tragic for one group of travelers in northwest Ohio.

Olice say a car driven by 18 year old Cody Grudowski of Paulding lost control on a curve on State Road 111 near Hammersmith Road then struck a utility pole.

Grudowski was not hurt in the crash. But a front-seat passenger, 21 year old Joseph Derseweh of Defiance, was killed.

Two children in the back seat, 8 year old Andrew Spaeth and 5 year old Jacob Spaeth, were hospitalized to be treated for minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. Police say charges are pending.
