FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - The future continues to look bright for the Fort Wayne General Motors Plant.
The factory is in the running for a $230 million upgrade.
Paper work has been filed asking the Allen County Council for a tax abatement on the proposed project.
According to Orval Plumlee, President of UAW local 2209, the upgrade is needed to create more floor space for the next generation of GM pickup trucks.
And word of the possible investment comes on the same day that Motor Trend Magazine named the Chevrolet Silverado the 2011 Truck of the Year.
The Silverado rolls off the Fort Wayne production line daily.
The full report from Motor Trend appears in the February issue.
