KENDALLVILLE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- Extra police officers are posted at Kendallville schools and along the bus routes, after someone shot the windows of two "full" school buses Monday.

Fortunately no students were hurt. In that regard, the situation could have been much worse.

As it is, Kendallville police have their hands full, trying to find who fired a high-powered pellet gun at two passing school buses, each full of children.

A window in each bus shattered, but the safety glass kept the fragments in place.

Once police got to the scene, the buses went back to the high school, so students could get home on other buses.

District administrators called and emailed parents Monday night to tell them about the investigation, and dozens of students have been interviewed.

It's a frightening scenario for everyone involved.

"We're really angry about the situation, angry for such a senseless thing to happen, to endanger the kids in any way and the drivers. We're just really mad about the situation," East Noble County Schools administrator Craig Ream said.

"This is a very serious incident and the person who did it has some serious charges if they're charged with a crime," said Kendallville Police Chief Rob Wiley.

The police chief said he didn't know if the shooter had an issue with the district or perhaps a specific student on one of those buses. Once someone is arrested, charges could be felonies.

If you know anything or your student said anything, you should call the Kendallville Police Department at (260) 347-0654.
