Driver Named: Semi Driver Has Leg Amputated At Crash (VIDEO & PHOTOS)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- A semi driver is in critical condition after being trapped in his truck for more than two hours.

It happened just before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday on South bound I-69 near the Goshen Road exit. The driver, 49-year-old Dmitry Naumov, reportedly slammed into a sound barrier and became pinned inside the cab.

Police and fire crews worked for several hours to secure the vehicle and remove the Naumov safely. A decision was made to amputate a portion of the his leg to free him from the wreckage.

According to initial reports they were finally able to extract the Naumov just before 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Medics then rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
