Second Case Of MERS Being Investigated In Florida

WASHINGTON, DC (21Alive) -- A second case of MERS in the United States is being investigated in Florida, according to the Center for Disease Control.

The advisory issued states:

'CDC and Florida Department of Health officials are investigating the second case of MERS-CoV infection in the United States. MERS-CoV, a virus relatively new to humans, was first reported in Saudi Arabia in 2012. On May 2, 2014 CDC reported the first case of MERS in the United States."

The CDC will be holding a press conference later today to answer questions about these recent developments.
