PLEASANT MILLS, Ind. (21Alive)-- Indiana Conservation Officers have suspended search operations for the missing kayaker after a body was recovered in Adams County.

The missing kayaker has been identified as Steven Seitz, 54, of Decatur.

Indiana Conservation Officers had been searching for the missing kayaker since 8:22 p.m. Friday.

Two male kayakers were kayaking on the St. Mary’s river north or U.S. Route 33, when one of the kayaks struck a log jam which caused the kayak to capsize. Seitz was thrown into the water. He was not wearing a life jacket.

The conservation officers and other emergency personnel arrived on the scene and began searching, but were unable to find him.
