Same-Sex Marriage Creates New Obstacles For Family Law Practices

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Family Law practices will be facing new challenges as same-sex couples across Indiana begin to get married.

A certified family law specialist tells 21Alive that where marriage is recognized, so must a divorce. They also say that family law court dockets are already busy and same-sex couples seeking divorce will make those dockets even busier.

Custody battles could also erupt, as same-sex couples can adopt children and if there is a split, the courts would have to weigh in on the issue.
