INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (21Alive) -- An appeal hearing regarding Indiana's same-sex marriage ban is scheduled to take place tomorrow in Federal appeals court.
Earlier this summer, a federal judge overturned Indiana's same-sex marriage ban on the grounds that it violated the constitutions equal protection clause.
The ruling created a window where same-sex couples could obtain marriage licenses in the state. Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller filed an appeal to the ruling and a stay was issued, which halted same-sex couples from getting married temporarily until the appeal hearing.
The appeal hearing is scheduled to take place tomorrow in 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago. Indiana's case has been combined with Wisconsin's case by the appellate court and the decision will affect both states.
