FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21ALIVE) --- Friday’s bone chilling cold produced another round of school closings across the area.
It's causing parents to go in search of places where their kids can burn off pent up energy.
It seems we're all dealing with a bad case of cabin fever.
We tracked down a couple of places people are turning to, to get relief.
With the temperature hovering around 5 degrees and school called off yet again, the Moriarity family sought refuge Friday afternoon at Crazy Pinz, where rolling a bowling ball down the lane offered a change of scenery and a welcome change of routine.
" We try to go out as much as we can, but you know with the temperatures the way they have been you can only be out for a short amount of time, that's when you come to places like this," said parent Shaleen Moriarity.
Besides bowling, you can play arcade games, laser tag and do a host of other activities in warm surroundings.
" You get stuck inside all day with the kids, it's a good outlet to come out here and let off a little steam, make some noise and have some fun," said Collin Kerschner, the director of sales & Marketing for Crazy Pinz.
Parents can certainly relate to kids being restless, bouncing off the walls.
At Skyzone on Fernhill Avenue near Glenbrook Mall, bouncing around is the whole idea.
Patrons hop around to their heart’s delight on a network of trampolines.
Tassica Yambor, a teacher, has been home from work a lot lately, looking for diversions to keep her sanity.
She brought her young children to the business around the lunch hour.
" It's too cold to play in the snow right now so this is perfect, somewhere inside to jump around, and be wild, and not make mom mad at home," Yambor said.
Extra help was called in to handle the crush of customers.
" I know we've got some extra court monitors on duty and we've called in some more cashiers, lucky for us a lot of our staff is also in school, so they're out today as well," said owner Carrie Snyder.
Parents might want to keep these kinds of businesses on their radar.
Early next week, we're going to be lucky to see temperatures climb above zero for at least a couple of days, so cabin fever figures to be hanging around for awhile longer.
