FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - IPFW RiverFest kicks off Saturday and it's sure to bring the Summit City back to its roots on the banks of the three rivers.

There are events for children, bands and river rides, many of which are free.

New for 2011 is a 500-foot zip line across the Saint Joe River.

Louise Teague, Project Manager with RiverFest, says we should embrace our rivers because of the role they play in our lives.

Teague says, “They're our history, and people probably don't know that our drinking water comes from the rivers. It's very important to our economy and environment in Fort Wayne.”

Zip line rides for those ready to take the leap can do so Saturday thru Monday.
