FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – Indiana State School Superintendent Glenda Ritz comments on storming out of a meeting with the Indiana State Board of Education.

Ritz was outraged by a resolution by the Board earlier this month to allow a panel, created by Governor Mike Pence, to review Common Core Standards along with her department.

Ritz adjourned the meeting accusing the governor of "trying to take over" her department.

She was in Fort Wayne this week as a guest speaker for the annual Jefferson Jackson Dinner and commented on the meeting.
"The governance issues that we're talking about, the formation of the CECI, the new agency for the governor, it's really about who is going to actually implement the policy. By statute it's my department and so when there are things happening to take away what my department is responsible for, then I will address that,” she said.

Ritz says she is scheduled to meet with governor pence soon to discuss her concerns.
