Report: Manning has fourth neck procedure; not 3

February 15, 2012 Updated Feb 15, 2012 at 4:38 PM EST

Indianapolis (Indiana's NewsCenter)- According to a report on SI.com, Peyton Manning had a 4th and unreported neck surgery in the last 19 months and not 3 as has been widely reported.

The report also cites "NFL sources" saying that Manning has developed bone spurs since the most recent surgery and that the Colts believe that it is inevitable that he will need another surgery and possibly even another fusion surgery at some point even if he does make a return in 2012.

The unreported surgery reported came between previously reported surgeries on May 23rd and September 9th. Manning's first surgery was in March of 2010.

Manning's agent, Tom Condon, declined comment on the report.

It was also reported by SI that Manning wanted to play in red zone situations in the Colts final few games but team doctors would not clear him to play.
