FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) – There's a "hairy" debate going on between the Indiana Legislature and certain licensed professionals regarding a proposed bill.

Indiana lawmakers are considering deregulating a number of professions including real estate brokers, home inspectors, and even those in the beauty industry.

Cosmetologists are just one of the many groups that would be affected by the bill. Scott Tam, owner of The 1121 Salon in Fort Wayne says he has concerns with the dangers his clients could face.

“I don't know how they're planning on doing it. How is a client going to be able to distinguish between a licensed salon and somebody who's not licensed? I would think the clients wouldn't want somebody experimenting with their hair. We use very caustic chemicals every day. You could seriously injure somebody!” said Tam.

Nail salons and dozens of others lumped under the "beauty culture" umbrella are also under review. A similar bill went through the State legislature in its last session, but failed to pass.
