KIMMELL, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) -- Someone tried to dig up a grave in Noble County and the Sheriff is searching for suspects.

Officials say someone dug down to a vault, containing a casket at the Sparta Township Cemetery in Kimmell.

The hole measured about four feet wide, by five feet long and four feet deep.

Investigators think it happened early Monday morning because the family visited the night before.

Noble County Sheriff Doug Harp says, “This is obviously something unusual and very, very disturbing for the family so we really want to focus a lot of efforts to try and figure out who did this and why.”

If you have information, call the Noble County Sheriff at 260-636-2182.
