Police: Oliver Street Shooting Was Drug Deal Gone Bad (VIDEO & PHOTOS)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- The Allen County Coroner has released the name of the white male who was shot to death in a home on Oliver Tuesday afternoon.

Daniel Arnett, 34 was pronounced dead at the hospital within the hour of the shooting. The coroner has determined that this is the 44th homicide for Fort Wayne and Allen County for 2013. This ties the record set in 1997.

According to Fort Wayne Police Chief Rusty York, this was a drug deal gone bad.

Arnett was indicted for criminal gang activity in 1996 and had been indicted for battery.

Police and emergency personnel responded to the scene of a shooting in the 3800 block of Oliver St around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

When officers arrived, they located an Arnett in the residence suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital by paramedics in critical condition. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Initial reports indicate that Arnett was shot multiple times inside a home on Oliver St. The victim was shot in the chest, neck, arm and shoulder.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple shots fired and two male suspects leaving a residence in a maroon van heading towards Rudisill.

Police are asking that anyone with information on this shooting please step forward and contact local authorities.
