KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- A man has been arrested for breaking into a Syracuse residence over the weekend and leaving his cell phone behind.

Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department deputies responded Saturday afternoon to a residence in Syracuse in regards to a burglary. The homeowner told officers that he had been hospitalized and returned home to find his residence had been broken into.

Officers discovered a broken window used to enter the home and missing prescription medications. Fresh tire tracks, footprints and a cell phone were found outside the residence.

During the course of the investigation, officers approached the home of Kenneth J. Keene, 51 who confirmed that he was currently missing his cell phone but said he had not left his home for the last two days. Other occupants of the home told officers that Keene had left the residence in his vehicle the previous evening.

After officers noted the similarities of Keene's vehicle's tire tread patterns and the shoe print design, a search warrant was acquired and executed on his home.

During the investigation, five different prescription medication bottles were located with various pills inside. The bottled had their labels removed and officers also located marijuana paraphernalia.

Keene was preliminarily arrested on felony burglary, theft and criminal mischief due to the damage performed during entry into the Syracuse residence.
