INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – Planned Parenthood of Indiana says Governor Daniels decision to sign HB 1210 into law will have severe consequences.
HB 1210 cuts funding to Planned Parenthood and organizations that provide abortions. Planned Parenthood says they face losing millions of dollars and clients will lose their health care services. They also say that private funding not tax dollars are used for abortions.
Betty Cockrum, the president of Planned Parenthood of Indiana says, “As many as 22,000 low-income Hoosiers will lose their medical home. Countless patients will find themselves without access to lifesaving tests to avoid the tragic outcomes of cervical and breast cancer and epidemic sexually transmitted disease here in Indiana.”
Planned Parenthood says they will be filing an injunction immediately.
The local Planned Parenthood will be holding a rally Monday from noon to 2 p.m. at 3914 West Jefferson Boulevard. They say the rally is for supporters to help protect Planned Parenthood of Indiana's funding.
