PERU, Ind. (21Alive) -- Schools in Peru closed Friday because of a standoff involving a man who was armed.

According to reports, Peru police and Indiana State Troopers say Blaine O'Neil was inside his home on in the 300 block of W. 2nd St., firing a gun. Officers tried to get him to leave the home between 4:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.

Officers were able to enter the home and get the man to surrender peacefully. Police say alcohol was a factor.

O'Neil was charged with criminal recklessness with a firearm.

No one else was inside the home and no injuries were reported.
