FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – No, he's not running for President -- at least not yet. It’s been a hot question for Indiana Governor Mike Pence, who was the keynote speaker at the Lincoln Day Dinner in Fort Wayne.

Despite all the questioning, Governor Mike Pence insists that, for now, his duties lie with Indiana.

At Tuesday night’s Allen County Republican Party Annual Lincoln Day Dinner, Pence doted on the accomplishments of the GOP, locally and at the state level. In his speech, he highlighted education reform, a low unemployment rate, and fiscal responsibility.

But, questions of his candidacy for President stem from his recent speaking engagements in states like Wisconsin and Illinois, and this weekend's appearance on Fox News.

However, Gov. Pence says, none of that is practice for the 2016 Presidential campaign trail.

"The travels that I'm engaged in really are all about saying in the time that I have to spare I'm just determined to help elect and re-elect Republican Governors around the country. I really do believe that the cure for what ails this country is going to come more from our State capitols than it ever will from our Nation's Capitol,” said Pence.

Pence says he thinks he’s complimented by the suggestion, but says it’s a testament to the success of the people, stability and status of the Hoosier state.
