FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21ALIVE) - A man was killed Tuesday evening after he was hit by a SUV in the 2400 block of Stellhorn Rd.

Police were called to the scene around 7:10 p.m. on reports that a man had been hit and was pinned under a Suburan SUV. Officers arrived to find the victim, 59-year-old David Niblack, still underneath the vehicle which had been traveling west on Stellhorn.

Witnesses say the victim was attempting to cross the road when he was hit. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition where he later died.

The driver of the SUV was not injured in the accident but investigators do not believe that drugs or alcohol will play a role in this incident.

This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Police Department, the Allen County Coroners office, and the Allen County Prosecutors office.
