BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - The family of missing IU student Lauren Spierer has hired a private detective from New York, hoping he can pick-up where the Bloomington Police Department has left off.

And he is not making friends with the department, likening the city's police chief to Gomer Pyle, due to a lack of cooperation.

The police chief says it his department's policy not to share investigatory information with a private agency.
