INDIANA (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The Indiana Parent-Teacher Association is asking voters to do their research before casting a yes vote on property tax caps.

Sending out a policy statement, the PTA says there is a popular misconception about the caps indicating that property owners will not see increase in their taxes.

They say this not necessary so, that a home assessed value could still rise causing your taxes to increase.

A spokesperson for the state PTA says the caps could negatively affect education in the state by reducing available dollars to schools.
