FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - An early morning shooting sends a Fort Wayne man to the hospital in critical condition.

Around 2:30 Tuesday morning, police arrived at the Sports and Spirits Bar on East Wayne Street, and found 36-year-old Terry Giddens shot in the chest.

Giddens was talking when paramedics arrived.

Initial reports indicate Giddens may have been shot while trying to break up a fight between at least two women.

Police chased potential suspects around the area, including through the Indiana Tech campus.

One person of interest is being interviewed.

Police say there were several witnesses around the bar and they're being interviewed as well.

Fort Wayne Police Officer Raquel Foster says, “We do believe that the victim may have been a bystander, an innocent bystander, who suffered this gun shot wound. However we're still investigating will come forward we can begin to understand what happened."

Police have not arrested anyone yet.
