FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Fort Wayne fire firefighters found the body of a man inside a smoldering home on the near southeast side of the city.
An off-duty firefighter alerted fire crews, calling them to the 2200 block of Reynolds Street around 5:50 AM.
Crews brought the fire under control around 6:15 AM. They think the fire had been burning for quite a while.
The Allen County Coroner released the name of the victim as Joshua Ohmart, 29, and the cause of death is listed as asphyxia due to inhalation of smoke. Two cats were also found deceased inside the home.
Investigators are still trying to figure out the cause of the fire.
