Ohio Man Pleads Guilty to Murder

MERCER COUNTY, Oh. (www.incnow.tv) - A Mercer County man entered a plea of guilty Friday morning regarding the shooting death of a woman.

The Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney's Office confirmed that Daniel C. Martin pleaded guilty in the death of Melinda S. Shinn. The shooting happened in the 500 block of North Street in Rockford of Mercer County, Ohio. The incident happened at Martin's home in November 2012.

The guilty plea by Martin states he murdered Shinn with the specification that he used a firearm at the time of the offense. Ohio law provides for the potential sentence to be imprisonment of 15 years to life for the murder offense and an additional 3 years for the weapon specification, according to officials.

Martin is next scheduled to appear in court on June 27 for sentencing.
