CELINA, Ohio (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- Officials say a home invasion that occurred over the weekend in Mercer County Ohio may be connected to a similar one last November, where Robert Grube and his daughter Colleen were tied up and shot to death in their home.

Sheriff's officers there say an eerily similar crime happened early Saturday morning in the same county, but this time the thieves were scared away before anyone was killed.

Before the two men and one woman fled, the victims, a man and his adult daughter, saw a dark colored SUV with loud exhaust drive south on Dutton Road near Mendon Ohio.

Police acknowledge the two cases could be connected.

Mercer Co. Ohio Sheriff Jeff Grey says, "Somebody out there in the public, somebody knows something about both of these cases, and we're hoping that they will call us."

Just like in the murders, the thieves tried in the new case to bind the victims with duct tape, but were fought off.

If you know something, call a police tip line at 567-890-8477.
