UPDATE: ANGOLA, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - It was an emotional day in Angola as two of the four high seniors killed on their way home from spring break were laid to rest.

The first funeral ceremony at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church honored the life of 18-year-old Matthew Riley Zimmer.

So many people came to bid Zimmer a final farewell that the lines stretched far outside of the church throughout the entire ceremony.

People huddled around the doors to listen, and inside we're told people were crammed shoulder to shoulder.

Although tears and hugs were in no short supply, we're told the funeral's message was a powerful one. It had a message of resurrection after death, faith, and of the wonderful memories Zimmer has left behind.

After the funeral procession went by Angola High School, where students were lined up outside, Zimmer's body was laid to rest at Saint Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Waterloo.

Matthew Roe was also laid to rest today.

Hundreds of family, friends, classmates and community members turned out for Roe’s funeral today. The loss of these young men is an event that has shaken not only the small, close-knit Angola community, but the Northeast Indiana community as well.

The feeling in Angola today was unmistakable. Signs of support remained in place and a feeling of loss remained in the town. If one ever needed to define the term “small town,” it could be defined today.

Services for Roe were held at Fairview Missionary Church in Angola.

If you would like to make a donation in either boy's name, please send memorials to the Fourever Friends 2011 Memorial Scholarship through the Steuben County Community Foundation.
