FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Punishment was handed down Monday to a Fort Wayne mother whose infant son suffered severe abuse.
21-year-old Tiffany Otten was given a 12-year prison sentence after a jury found her guilty last month of a felony child neglect charge.
Emergency Room doctors testified at trial that Otten's 7-month-old son had "two" skull fractures and required immediate brain surgery.
Otten and her boyfriend Joshua Johnson, who has pleaded guilty in the case, told investigators the child fell off a bed, and tried to blame the injury on the infant's two-year-old brother.
But experts say that story didn't match with the kind of injuries found.
Johnson's plea calls for him to serve six years.
His sentencing hearing is set for Wednesday.
