FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A very special teacher is honored by Fort Wayne Community Schools.

Northwood Middle School’s teacher Michelle White is the 2010-2011 Fort Wayne Community Schools Teacher of the Year.

This is White's fourth year as a 7th-grade language arts teacher and her sixth-year in education.

Officials say White was chosen Teacher of the Year because of her ability to find connections to students and reach out to them at a time when many students are challenged by their changing lives.
