CELINA, Ohio (21Alive) – Did you know that heroin only costs about ten dollars in Mercer County, Ohio? The sheriff says that's part of the reason why more users are turning to heroin as their drug of choice.
An informational meeting called "Parents 360 RX" was held at Celina High School Monday night.
Mercer County officials talked about what they're doing to combat the problem through enforcement, education and treatment. Sheriff Jeff Grey says users are becoming addicted at a younger age because prescription pills used to make heroin are so easy to access.
Jason Bollenbacher, 33, is a recovering addict. He spoke about his experience with heroin, and what parents should look out for.
