Meds Replaced With D-CON Rat Poison, Woman Arrested (VIDEO)

STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (21Alive) -- A woman has been arrested after an investigation into an attempted poisoning where a person's medication was switched out and replaced with D-CON rat poison.

Wednesday the Ashley Police Department and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office conducted a joint investigation regarding an attempted poisoning that occurred in the Town of Ashley in Steuben County.

As a result of the investigation Renee M Mansfield, 25, of Ashley was arrested for aggravated battery, Class B Felony, possession of a controlled substance, Class D Felony, and possession of marijuana, Class A Misdemeanor.

During the course of the investigation it was determined that the victims’ medication was switched out and replaced with D-CON rat poison.

Mansfield appeared for her initial hearing Wednesday in Steuben County Magistrate Court and is being held on a $50,000 bond.
