Mayor Vetoes Ordinance Ending Collective Bargaining

June 12, 2014 Updated Jun 13, 2014 at 10:59 AM EST

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Mayor Henry has officially vetoed the ordinance passed by city council that would end collective bargaining for non-public safety union employees.

The veto happened at an 11:30 a.m. news conference where Mayor Tom Henry officially made the signing of the veto.

Now that the ordinance is officially vetoed , it will go back to city council where they will have a chance to override it. If the councilmen vote the same way they originally did, then there will be enough votes to overturn the veto.
