FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Next week, Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry will present a balanced budget to city council members and he is assuring city employees there will not be any layoffs.

He attributes that to planning ahead, committed department heads and a staff who figured out how to do more, with less.

Mayor Henry says, “We still have a little bit of time to work on it, and a lot of it still depends on what the council does. They cannot take it up, but they can take it down. And we're a little concerned about what some of the council members are anticipating doing, but I think most of them will be very pleased with what we are going to bring to them."

The mayor says he's also going to ask the council for modest salary increases for city employees.
