MARION, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - Detectives from the Marion Police Department arrested a person who is believed to be responsible for two bank robberies in Marion.
Alva Oliver Funk, 69, was arrested at his residence in Lafayette. Funk was arrested in connection with the two robberies in Marion, but it is believed he may be responsible for similar robberies in Kokomo and Anderson.
The first robbery occurred back on January 24, 2013 at the Regions Bank, 1503 West Kem Road. The second robbery occurred on April 5, 2013 at the Star Financial Bank, 2948 South Western Avenue.
Funk is currently on parole after being released from the Department of Corrections in June 2012, where he served time after being sentenced in 1993 for intimidation, resisting law enforcement and habitual criminal acts out of Tippecanoe County. He is charged with two counts of robbery in Marion and is being held at the Grant County Jail.
Motives and any other possible parties involved is still under investigation.
