MARION, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) --- What really happened to a two-year old Grant County girl, who was found dead in her home last month suffering from burns?

A suspect is in custody, but the investigation is still trying to come up with more answers.

Donald Riddle of Marion made a court appearance Monday.

He’s the man who is believed to be responsible for the death of Arianna Carmack.

There were no big developments from the hearing, and the defense attorney says his client is offering no further clues about the flash burns on the child.

Riddle was arrested last month and charged with felony child neglect causing death, after his girlfriend's daughter was found unresponsive, with burns to her face and torso, and bruises over her legs.

Police say Riddle was left in charge of Arianna Carmack and two other small children.

Court documents allege when mom got home, Riddle tried to steer her away from checking on the child.

When she did check and made the awful discovery, police say Riddle took off.

He was tracked down at a friend's house hours later.

We asked his lawyer about the troubling injuries to the child.

" A flash burn is a quicker burn, it's not a long-term exposure to flame, but no one has, to my knowledge, said what might have caused it yet," said attorney Jerry Drook.

The case is set to go to trial July 16th.

Toxicology tests were performed in the autopsy, to see if there were any drugs in the little girl's system at the time of death.

The results came back negative.
