FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Fort Wayne Police are searching for the man who broke into a home on Kensington Blvd. and held a man and his 10-month-old son hostage while robbing the home.

Police were called to the home Wednesday evening. The homeowner tells police his wife left around 6 p.m. and did not properly secure the door. The man says when he went into the kitchen he was greeted by the robber pointing a gun in his direction.

The suspect told the homeowner that he was looking for cash and made the father put his son on the floor before taking the homeowner to the second floor of the home to look for money. The 10-month-old baby was crying when they returned to the floor.

That is when the perpetrator ordered the homeowner and the baby into a closet and barricaded the door, then ransacked the upstairs bed rooms. The homeowner told police he was in the closet for about 45 minutes.

When the man was able to get free, he noticed his truck, a silver 2007 Honda Ridgeline, was also stolen and called police.

A camo duffle bag was missing along with 11 firearms, including the one that was in the missing truck. The homeowner said the firearms had been stored in boxes that were still in a spare room.

The suspect is described as a black male in his late 20s or early 30s. He was wearing a t-shirt and shorts with a black bandana over his face and a ball cap.
