FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - A Fort Wayne woman has been sentenced to prison after she admitted running a prostitution ring out of her north side apartment.

A judge sentenced 43-year-old Kirstin Cook to 10-years in prison, Thursday morning, with four years to be served.

Cook pleaded guilty last month to felony "promoting prostitution."

Police say she ran the escort business out of her apartment unit at the Canterbury Apartment Complex.

Prosecutors had said Cook ran two escort businesses, and was caught twice: once last summer, then again last fall.

Allen County Prosecutor (R) Karen Richards says, “It's no longer necessarily just women standing on a street corner, it's now people using the computer and Craig's List, and all these other different types of new technology to peddle women basically, and that's what this lady was doing."

Cook's daughter, who was coerced into taking part in the "sex for pay business" called her mother a "monster". A label defense lawyers say is "overblown."
