FORT WAYNE, Ind. (NBC33) – It is now official. Former Chief Deputy Prosecutor Mike Loomis formally announced his candidacy for Allen County Prosecutor on Tuesday.
Loomis ran unsuccessfully for the position in 2002 against current prosecutor Karen Richards.
Tuesday morning he outlined his plan for "positive change" for the county, stressing the importance of the community taking a pro-active stance in educating our youth when it comes to drugs and violence.
"I don't see that proactive effort, so I think in one sense the entire community is at-fault,” says Loomis. “We all need to start pulling together. We've got to increase deterrent value in this town before it's too late. Or things are going to start sliding and get much worse."
Loomis also added he would choose to focus heavily on the record-tying homicides and reducing violent crime in the county.
