In wake of Pope Benedict XVI resignation, the thought of who will replace him is in the minds of many people across the world.

21alive wanted to get local feedback on who should replace him and what qualities he should have. We sent reporters to Bishop Dwenger Catholic High School and the University of Saint Francis to find out.

Many of the students at Bishop Dwenger agreed on one thing - a modernized pope would be a nice change.

Jacob Schneider, a senior at Bishop Dwenger said "I think a modernized pope is best, but he needs to also hold to the old ways and traditions that we have. But also, in the way the world is changing these days, we do need to have a modernized pope who knows how everything changes."

Ben Clemmer, another senior at the high school said "it's not so much that the church needs to modernize, it's that the church needs to be able to communicate its message in a modern world. Pope Benedict was really heading in the right direction this last year in his papacy when he started a twitter account,. As a teenager that's something that we are going to see and is going to be a method of communication that can break through the noise."

Clemmer also mentioned how many of the Cardinals have twitter accounts with thousands of followers.

Jamie Abbott is a senior theology major at the University of Saint Francis. Abbott thinks the chances of an American being named pope is very slim, but she wouldn't mind seeing a South American pope.

Abbott said " the church is growing vastly in South America, and I would love to see someone from there become pope mainly because it's never happened, but also because the way the church is growing there's obviously something good happening there that hopefully he could bring to the Vatican and then spread throughout the whole world."

A 2/3 majority vote is needed to appoint a new pope. The cardinals are already in the process of deciding on one now.
