FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - While finishing things in the studio Wednesday night two local radio DJ's decided they wanted to help find missing IU student Lauren Spierer.

Hot 107.9 then told viewers they were sending people down to Bloomington and said they would pick up any listeners who wanted to join the search party.

Volunteers making the trip were told to wear long pants as they would be searching the woods in Bloomington.

DJ Nugget says, “It's not really about who's listening and the rating and all that. We decided not to do anything grandiose and that we don't have to do anything ridiculous to help. We can simply just do down there and help actually find her.”

The DJs took a station vehicle Thursday morning at 9 am to pick up two people, and plan to meet more listeners in Bloomington.

The search in Bloomington will begin at 2 p.m. outside the Smallwood apartment plaza where she was last seen.
