Fort Wayne, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- Wednesday was Chick-Fil-A appreciation day...Friday was Chick-Fil-A-Kiss-In Day.

The nationwide effort was organized in response to a comment made by the franchise's owner but it isn't taking hold in Fort Wayne.

The Gay and Lesbian community in Fort Wayne isn't taking part in the demonstration on a large scale because they say there are more positive ways to respond.

The Jefferson Pointe Chick-Fil-A blocked off an area in their parking lot for anyone who wanted to take part in the demonstration.

The Chick-Fil-A Kiss In was created by GLADD, a national gay and lesbian advocacy group.

It's in response to the fast food chain's owner saying he supports the biblical definition of marriage --- meaning that between a man and a woman.

On Wednesday thousands went to the Chick-Fil-A in Fort Wayne as part of a nationwide appreciation day.

Nikki Fultz, the Director of Fort Wayne Pride organized the Fort Wayne Pride Festival last weekend -- she says more than 6,000 people were there. Although she could have rallied people she says that's not the best way to handle this situation.

"We can't always change peoples minds I think it's more important to look at the positive things we can do," says Fultz. "Such as helping to obtain gay rights and working with the organizations that are trying to help us"

Obviously many people say the owner of Chick-Fil-A has a right of free speech to say what he said Fultz said of course he has a right to say what he believes.

She says the company donates money to anti-gay lobbying groups and that is what she has more of a problem with.
