NEW YORK, N.Y. (21Alive) -- Wednesday evening an annual tribute to 9/11 victims was held in lights.

The lights can be seen each year from sunset on September 11th to Sunrise on September 12th.

Two beacons of light shining to the heavens as a symbol of the twin towers that were lost 12 years ago, and a remembrance of the nearly 3,000 people who died that day.

The Empire State Building is also lit in red, white and blue in honor of those lost in the tragic events.
