FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Navistar's decision to phase out it’s Fort Wayne operations means big job losses, about 1400 of them, locally and one local Navistar family is torn between staying or moving to a job hundreds of miles away from home.

Kerry and Dawn Yingling feel like their life is on hold. Kerry has worked as an engineer at Navistar for 11 years. On August 17th they found out, with the rest of us, that his job in Fort Wayne would be phased out.

Kerry says, “A lot of people are undecided. It's a big cloud over our heads right now, trying to figure out what we're going to do.”

Dawn says, “We don't know anything, that's the biggest frustration. We just remodeled our house. Do we have to sell it or can we stay? Can we get a new car? Starting a family?

Everything's up in the air.”

Kerry doesn't know if he'll be offered a job in Illinois, but even if he is, there is a lot to consider. Cost of living is higher there but salary wouldn't be. Plus there are roots here.

Dawn says, “We both grew up in DeKalb County and to leave this area is a big shock to both of us. Both of our family still lives in the Auburn area and to leave here would be a considerable adjustment for both our families and ourselves.”

The couple says they'll do what they have to do in the end, but they'd love to stay here with or without Navistar.
