UPDATE: FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Shortly after returning a guilty verdict in the murder trial of Charles Lawrence, jurors also convicted the 36-year-old of being a habitual offender.

The decision came in just after 1:00 a.m. and will likely lengthen the amount of time Lawrence spends behind bars.

Lawrence has been convicted of robbery involving a gun in the past. He was also sentenced to 30 years for attempted murder. He was released early and still on parole at the time of the April 2007 shooting of his sister's boyfriend.

Lawrence is facing up to 95 years in prison and will be sentenced in Allen County on April 11th.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - An Allen County jury worked early into the morning to reach verdicts in the murder trial of Charles Lawrence.

The jury found the 36-year old guilty of murder and possession of handgun charges shortly after midnight following more than 8 hours of deliberations. The jury is reportedly still considering a habitual offender charge.

Lawrence was accused of shooting and killing his sister's boyfriend Quinton Lewis at his sister's apartment in April, 2007. Lawrence, who was on parole at the time, was said to be angry that Lews had abused his sister.

The case was tried largely on circumstantial evidence as prosecutors relied mostly on statements made by Lawrence's siblings. However, they changed their accounts during their testimony in the trial.

Lawrence and his attorney Don Swanson say they will appeal the verdict. After it came down, Swanson said "they had no physical evidence to associate him with the crime. They had no eyewitnesses. And they had three women that were family members of his that gave differing accounts of his whereabouts in the night in question."
